OotD: Cosmic Love

I think I've found my new favorite piece of clothing!  The Galaxy Purple Swimsuit from Black Milk Clothing is absolute perfection.  I don't think I've ever had a onepiece bathing suit fit so perfectly.  And it actually covers my ass!

Seriously - if there's one thing I can't stand about bathing suits, it's when they cut across my ass in a funny place and make me look like I have 4 butt-cheeks.  I haaaaaaaate high-cut suits.  But this was PERFECT.  Next time I wear it I'll have to get some pics of the back.

Estel was determined to get in the picture, so I decided to troll him a little.

I actually started the day off with a pink and purple plaid shirt thrown over it, but the weather dropped as the day went on.  Plus, I like it better with the black crop hoodie anyway.

Here's what it looks like without anything covering it:

Some of you may have noticed that I've been wearing the La Lune Pendant pretty consistently lately.  I'm a little obsessed with it.  Granted, I love all the jewelry I got from Night Venus, but this piece has become like an extension of me.  It's been a while since I've had a connection to a piece of jewelry like this.  It's quite lovely.

It was a pretty great day as well.  We had some delicious vegan food from a local cafe for lunch.  My black bean and guacamole burger was soooooo good!  I wish I had gotten two.  We puttered around the house for a while after that... at least until it was time to meet our friends at IHOP.  That was the first time in a long time that we had gotten that many of us together all at once.  It was a blast!

Jeanette brought us some lovely souvenirs from her trip to Columbus.  I believe the one I chose was especially poignant given what's currently going on in my life.

We ended the night by all going to my other friends' house for coffee.  They were all watching a DVD of Frozen by the time we got there.  Of course, since their son had already seen it a bazillion consecutive times for the past couple days, it was really the adults who were invested in the movie.  I have to say I really enjoyed it.  And Olaf was a lot less annoying than I assumed he'd be given his character design.  I was bracing myself for a Jar-Jar Binks level of stupidity.  Thank god it did not deliver, haha.  But really, the movie was super cute.  I really liked the characters and loved the whole sisterly love theme.  I was a little disappointed by the other songs though.  They weren't quite on the level of "Let it go" but they were still nice.  And the animation was gorgeous!  I'd like to watch it again sometime without a hyper child trying to teach me ABCs.  :P

TBT OofD: Pink Lemonade

Throwback Thursday: Pink Lemonade

God, I miss this outfit.  It used to be one of my faves.  Sadly, there comes a time in some women's lives where going bra-less is no longer an option (unless your top has one of those awesome boob shelves).  I probably don't fit into those jeans anymore anyway... though maybe I'll have to see next time I'm visiting my parents' house.

Anyway, this picture was taken in Spring during my undergrad years (note the typical Spring snow... ugh.  I think it was around Easter actually.)  I love everything about this outfit, even the shoes which unfortunately are not in the picture.  I had these sweet, pointy toed backless shoes with kitten heels.  They were a pale perrywinkle with an iridescent sheen and handsewn beadwork.  And the earrings!  I used to wear those with everything!  I'm so upset that they broke.

I'm pretty sure most of what I was wearing came from Charlotte Russe.  That was my go-to store back then.  Definitely feeling some heavy nostalgia here.

OotD: Love in a Void

This might very well be one of my new favorite coordinates.  It makes me feel like a classy adult and a rockstar all at the same time.  Black on black with metal studs - it just doesn't get much better than that.  The only flaw is that I seem to have forgotten my dangly cross earrings when I took these photos.

Given the nearly monochromatic presentation, the accessories become huge focal points, bringing a touch of brightness with the ombre fade of the scarf and blinged out bag.  Both items are presents from my BFF.  You can find them and other Grace Adele brand accessories at her website: https://angelamarielee.graceadele.us

I'm wearing some of my standards of course - Lucky Brand leather jacket, Forever 21 skinny jeans, and my Strike Envy knock-off sunglasses.  The boots, however, are brand new.  I bought them to replace my favorite black boots which got a hole in them (thank a lot, dirty workplace that destroys all my shoes).  As sexy as these boots are, I'm still not wholly satisfied with them.  I feel like they're too plain and perhaps a little cheap.  They also run a bit big when I'm not wearing my heavy winter socks.  So it looks like I'll still be keeping my eyes out for replacement boots (and then these can become my new work boots).

The netted sweater is my greatest accident of the year.  I ordered Heavy Red's Savage World sweater but received this on accident.  (I'm actually still waiting for them to send me my Savage World sweater and a replacement for my defective Introspection of Love dress... c'mon, guys!  My tracking slip says you got my package on the 21st.  I'm getting a little nervous here!)  The sweater has a high front with a low back and slinks nicely off my shoulder due to the silkiness of the material.  I've been tossing it on over all kinds of shirts and dresses.  It's pretty awesome actually.

OotD: We Were Born to Die

This was the summer of Lana Del Rey.

My boyfriend was still living in another state and the weather was cold, but Megan and I were already gearing up for a ridiculous summer.  We had just finished raiding the mall before returning to her apartment in what passes for a big city around here.  Later that year I would be interning as a fashion photographer for my friend's start-up jewelry/accessories company, with the Born to Die album more often than not blasting from my car stereo as I commuted to an actual big city for the photo-shoots.  It was the seminal album of that year.

I'm not sure why I had my camera on me that night.  Had this supposedly impromptu photo-shoot been our plan all along?  Perhaps.  I remember coffee and choco-wine and battling Jason with my sparkly $1 wand from Target.  In between the shenanigans we managed to take some photos for Lookbook.  This was probably one of the more sane coordinates of the night.

Forever 21: black ruffled collar shirt, black sun hat
Vanity: purple feather earrings
Rue 21: polka dot heart shaped sunglasses

OotD: Carry Me, Ohio

Carry Me, Ohio

I think this is a really good outfit to start with since it represents something significant in my life.  This was taken outside of my boyfriend's old apartments, before he moved 6 hours away just to be with me.  I loved going down to visit and exploring the city.  There was also something special about having such limited time together.  It made us have to really focus on each other, even more so than other new couples.  But I wouldn't trade it for where we're at now.  Nothing beats having him here with me every day and being able to share experiences with him rather than just telling him about them over the phone.  To me, this picture represents our journey from two silly kids on the computer to something deeper.  A reminder to cherish the past, but also 'look at how far we've come.'

In this picture I'm wearing a cowl neck sweater from Forever 21 with ripped leggings and a fake leather jacket (also Forever 21) to give it an edge and make it more "me."  The grey boots are from JCPenney's and are probably my most complimented footwear next to my spikey boots.  Sadly, wearing them to work is really taking a toll on them.  I'm not sure how much longer they'll last.  The earrings, though a bit hard to see, are little clear hearts with strips of colorful foil paper inside.  They make me think of art class.
